Leadership and Communication Essay Plan
Question: Discuss about the Leadership and Communication for Essay Plan. Answer: Introduction The Path Goal model is basically a theory which depends upon specifying a style of the leader or behavior which best fits the employee and his working environment in order to achieve a goal in his company. The goal determines to increase the motivation, empowerment and satisfaction of the employee so that they can become the indispensible as well as productive members of the organization. It can be rather suggested that the Path Goal Theory can be best determined as the process in which a leader of a company can identify specific behaviors that are best apposite necessities and working environment of an employee so that it can guide them through the path in obtaining their daily activities in an organization. Basically the theory determines the path where the leaders can adopt a strong or limited path to encourage the employees of an organization to achieve the goals for an organization triumph. A leader is responsible to identify the potentiality of his working employee and thereby he is responsible for eradicating the obstacles for improving the performance of the employee. A leader can also motivate the staffs through the process of rewarding for their enriched performance. The theory basically determines some of the situational arbiter on which the effects of specific leader behaviors are dependent. In the Path-Goal Theory, the independent variables are recognized as the behavior of a leader, where the leader adjusts his or her style of behavior to the employee as well as task distinctiveness so that the employee can be motivated to excel in his goal. With the help of this theory, the relationship between the managers and the subordinates can be facilitated but the relationship between the managers and the peers is strongly affected (Silverthorne, 2001). There are four different types leaderships which can be determined through the following points:- Supportive leadership The primary focus of the supportive leadership is to basically support a staffs psychological well being. In a workplace, it is the primary focus of a team leader to reduce stress diminishes the frustration. In such type of leadership, the focus is basically on the relationships between the team leader and the employees, where the leader shows sensitivity to the necessities of the individual team members and their preeminent interests are taken into account. The leadership style of a person is best judged when the tasks are recurring and demanding. Directive leadership The directive path goal leadership aims to reduce uncertainty of a job function. In this type of leadership, the communication goals and expectations as well as the allotted assignments are clear. Here a leader generates specific expectations to the subordinates regarding the task performance. This style is works best when tasks are unstructured and the inexperience team members give the best efforts to accomplish the tasks. Participative Leadership This type of leadership depends on the mutual participation of the team leaders and the employees and staffs. The team leader gives the most importance in consultation with the group members. In this participative leadership, the team members give the best effort to consider the ideal phenomenon and the expertise before adopting a decision. This approach works best, when the tasks are rather more challenging and the experienced team members want to give their best contribution. Achievement- oriented leadership The achievement oriented behavior of leadership centers on encouraging performance superiority through setting goals that can challenge the employees. In this type of approach, the team leader shows confidence in the abilities of the team members, so that they can perform healthy and exhibits a high standard for everyone. This particular style works best when the employees are unenthusiastic or recognized in their respective work. But different subordinates of the organizations in Taiwan have different perspectives and opinions about how the path-goal theory of leadership enhances companys effectiveness (Silverthorne, 2001). Moreover, communication is necessary within the organization as it helps to identify the definite roles and responsibilities of the individuals working in an organization. By properly planning, organizing and controlling the communication process, beneficial organizational outcomes can be obtained (Nothhaft, 2010). It is very much necessary for the managers or the leaders to adopt essential roles to guide the employees or the subordinates and ensure fruitful performances from them. There are seven most effective roles that the leaders can play in order to motivate the employees to perform better (Muna, F. 2006). Untitled document Essays - Creative Works, Literature, Films
Muuseh Omar Sarah Jessop ENG4U1 January 14th, 2019 Night and Life of Pi essay Surviving is never easy particularly when you are in difficult situation. To give you a background knowledge about this book, Life of Pi is a Canadian fiction adventure which Yann Martel survives from a sinking ship and managing to get on a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker and a few animals. Night is the story of Eliezer Wiesel living in a Nazi concentration camp alongside his father. Both Elie and Pi were put in scenarios where they had to focus mainly on survival. Pi engages in problem solving skills to survive to the end of his hauling journey whereas Elie becomes hardened and tough until he's ultimately rescued. First began when Elie was working in the camp for food, tiring long hours shifts for a loaf of bread. Meanwhile pi would fish for food to feed Richard Parker and himself. Pi kept on having good happening to him example would be that he would always have food to feed himself and Richard Parker which would increase their chances of survival. Meanwhile in night the more they went through difficult times it seemed that Elie would give up on survival. Elie witnessed murders and his father's health get worse as time goes on. Elie says "Our heads empty and heavy , our brains a whirlwind of decaying memories. Our minds numb with indifference here or elsewhere, what did it matter? Die today or tomorrow or later? The night was growing longer , never ending." (Elie pg 98). Eliezer has given up on life. Back then, Eliezer had strong faith he believed he would get through any difficulty. Pi was different he believed in 3 gods he prayed on numerous occasions, this shows how strong his belief is. Furthermore throughout the long nights and days during survival of Pi and Eliezer, what kept them alive is their mental strength. Pi and Elie ae both in their teens, they haven't fully developed. " I did not weep and it pained me that I could not weep, but I had no more tears. And in the death of my being in the recess of my weekend conscienle could i have searched it I might perhaps found it like free.( Elie pg 98). Elie demonstrates his mental toughness as a young teen facing life and death situation. He states that he could not show any emotions . Pi had the same case he could not show any fear or backing down because Richard Parker will smell the fear and turn him to dinner.." i survived 227 days, thats how long my trial lasted over seven months" before crashing in Mexico. Finally ,both characters show compassion when their life is holding on a string. I argue that if Elie had food and was almost dying I believe that he would spare the piece of bread to his dying father. When people are on the verge of dying they would do anything to survive. Normally when you have no source of food and in the middle of the sea . most people would keep the food to themselves and show no awe to an animal. Pi showed he cared and provided food for Richard Parker. " "That bungled goodbye hurts me to this day. I wish so much that i'd had one last look at him in the life boat, that I'd provoke him a little s that i'd be on his mind. I wish I had said to him then-yes, I know, to a tiger" Pi shows his appreciation towards the tiger . He found a new friend that he had to say goodbye to.

Julius Caesars Rise to Power in the Roman Republic
Julius Caesars Rise to Power in the Roman Republic By the time of the First Triumvirate, the republican form of government in Rome was already on its way to monarchy. Before you get to the three men involved in the triumvirate, you need to know about some of the events and people that led to it: During the era of the late Republic, Rome suffered through a reign of terror. Terrors tool was a new one, the proscription list, by which large numbers of important, wealthy people, and often senators, were killed; their property, confiscated. Sulla, Roman dictator at the time, instigated this carnage: Sulla now busied himself with slaughter, and murders without number or limit filled the city. Many, too, were killed to gratify private hatreds, although they had no relations with Sulla, but he gave his consent in order to gratify his adherents. At last one of the younger men, Caius Metellus, made bold to ask Sulla in the senate what end there was to be of these evils, and how far he would proceed before they might expect such doings to cease. We do not ask thee, he said, to free from punishment those whom thou hast determined to slay, but to free from suspense those whom thou hast determined to save.Although when we think of dictators we think of men and women who want enduring power, a Roman dictator was: A legal officialDuly nominated by the SenateTo handle a major problem,With a fixed, limited term. Sulla had been dictator for longer than the normal period, so what his plans were, as far as hanging onto the office of dictator went, were unknown. It was a surprise when he resigned from the position of a Roman dictator in 79 B.C. Sulla died a year later. The confidence which he reposed in his good genius... emboldened him... and though he had been the author of such great changes and revolutions of State, to lay down his authority....Sullas reign drained the Senate of power. The damage had been done to the republican system of government. Violence and uncertainty allowed a new political alliance to arise. Beginning of the Triumvirate Between the death of Sulla and the beginning of the 1st Triumvirate in 59 B.C., 2 of the wealthiest and most powerful remaining Romans, Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus (106-48 B.C.) and Marcus Licinius Crassus (112-53 B.C.), grew increasingly hostile to each other. This wasnt simply a private concern since each man was backed by factions and soldiers. To avert civil war, Julius Caesar, whose reputation was growing because of his military successes, suggested a 3-way partnership. This unofficial alliance is known to us as the 1st triumvirate, but at the time was referred to as an amicitia friendship or factio (whence, our faction). They divvied up the Roman provinces to suit themselves. Crassus, the capable financier, would receive Syria; Pompey, the renowned general, Spain; Caesar, who would soon show himself to be a skilled politician as well as a military leader, Cisalpine and Transalpine Gaul and Illyricum. Caesar and Pompey helped cement their relationship by Pompeys marriage to Caesars daughter Julia. End of the Triumvirate Julia, the wife of Pompey and daughter of Julius Caesar, died in 54, passively breaking the personal alliance between Caesar and Pompey. (Erich Gruen, author of The Last Generation of the Roman Republic argues against the significance of the death of Caesars daughter and many other accepted details of Caesars relations with the Senate.) The triumvirate further degenerated in 53 B.C., when a Parthian army attacked the Roman army at the Carrhae and killed Crassus. Meanwhile, Caesars power grew while in Gaul. Laws were altered to suit his needs. Some senators, notably Cato and Cicero, were alarmed by the weakening legal fabric. Rome had once created the office of tribune to give the plebeians power against the patricians. Among other powers, the tribunes person was sacrosanct (they couldnt be harmed physically) and he could impose a veto on anyone, including his fellow tribune. Caesar had both tribunes on his side when some members of the senate accused him of treason. The tribunes imposed their vetoes. But then the senate majority ignored the vetoes and roughed up the tribunes. They ordered Caesar, now charged with treason, to return to Rome, but without his army. Julius Caesar returned to Rome with his army. Regardless of the legitimacy of the original treason charge, the tribunes had vetoed, and the disregard for the law involved in violating the tribunes sacrosanctity, the moment Caesar stepped across the Rubicon river, he had, in legal fact, committed treason. Caesar could either be convicted of treason or fight the Roman forces sent to meet him, which Caesars former co-leader, Pompey, led. Pompey had the initial advantage, but even so, Julius Caesar won at Pharsalus in 48 B.C. After his defeat, Pompey fled, first to Mytilene, and then to Egypt, where he expected safety, but instead met his own death. Julius Caesar Rules Alone Caesar next spent a few years in Egypt and Asia before returning to Rome, where he began a platform of reform. Julius Caesar granted citizenship to many colonials, thus widening his base of support.Caesar granted pay to Proconsuls to remove corruption and gain allegiance from them.Caesar established a network of spies.Caesar instituted a policy of land reform designed to take power away from the wealthy.Caesar reduced the powers of the Senate so as to make it an advisory council only. At the same time, Julius Caesar was appointed dictator for life (in perpetuity) and assumed the title of imperator, general (a title given ââ¬â¹to a victorious general by his soldiers), and pater patriae father of his country, a title Cicero had received for suppressing the Catilinarian Conspiracy. Although Rome had long abhorred a monarchy, the title of rex king was offered him. When the autocratic Caesar rejected it at the Lupercalia, there were grave doubts about his sincerity. People may have feared he would soon become king. Caesar even dared to put his likeness on coins, a place suitable for the image of a god. In an effort to save the Republic although some think there were more personal reasons 60 of the senators conspired to murder him. On the Ides of March, in 44 B.C., the senators stabbed Gaius Julius Caesar 60 times, beside a statue of his former co-leader Pompey. Not sure Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words - 1
Not sure - Essay Example Almost all organizations conduct an interview before recruiting employees to determine the candidates who are most competent to fit for the vacant position (Townsend 2007, p. 87). Managers use a first interview (screening), an interview conducted either via the phone call or at the office of the employer (Eung 2011, p. 56). This type of interview is brief and usually lasts for 40-60 minutes. During this interview, the interviewing managers will mainly want to know the candidateââ¬â¢s skills and experiences. Most interviewing managers make use of the screening interviews to describe organizational operations as well as the position (Seidman 2006, p. 34). If the managers are impressed by the candidateââ¬â¢s performance at this first interview, they invite the candidate for a second interview. The second interviews are usually longer compared to the first one and may take three hours or even a whole day. This interview involves a variety of interview questions, which are in form of testing. They also involve lunch or dinner, taking the interviewees out for a tour, as well as conducting a series of interviews to different candidates (Macan 2009, p. 14). The purpose of this interview is to make the interviewees to come out with full understanding of the organizational structure, culture, working environment, responsibilities of the job they are applying for, and gain enough know how to decide whether to take the job. Interviewers should choose the form of interviewing that they feel would be most effective. Behavioral interviewing also known as competence interviewing is the most effective form of interviewing used in most organizations. This type of interview requires the interviewee to draw about their experiences and give specific examples that demonstrates his or her competence in the applied post (Sund, Carin & Carin 2008, p. 33). This type of interviewing is more effective than unstructured interviewing in

Discuss the role of histopathology in the diagnosis and prognosis of Essay
Discuss the role of histopathology in the diagnosis and prognosis of adenocarcinoma of the colon - Essay Example According to Burns (2011) adenocarcinoma of the colon is the cancer that affect the gastro intestines especially its mucosa. Development of adenocarcinoma is associated with development of polyps. Polyps are the growth that are found on the inner side of the colon and protrude into it. These structures form when epithelial cells that line the colon, change to abnormal. This process of change in the epithelial cells is known as mutation. In any living organism, the cells are programmed to generate, multiply, mature and die in a normal way (Willet, 2005, 29). However, in the case of the polyps, there is inconsistency with the designed program of the cells because polyps are permanent. Their existent also makes the death of other cells impossible and hence there is an accumulation of cells in the colon. This has a negative effect on the functioning of the body because it renders conducive supply of oxygen and consumption of nutrients to the cells. This then leads to accumulation of imma ture cells and consequent development of more polyps. If not treated, the polyps develop into the tumor in the inner tissues of the colon. Some of the symptoms of this cancer include; rectal bleeding, constipation, anemia, angina amongst others. Histopathology of the tumor According to Greaves (2011, 29) histopathology of the adenocarcinoma is achieved through taking a biopsy from the colon tissues and carrying out various procedures, which help to differentiate between normal tissues from cancerous one. Fixation of the cells is the first step during specimen processing. Formaldehyde is used to fix the specimen that will undergo pathology study. The purpose of this chemical is to preserve the cells by the process known as irreversible cross-linking of proteins. In this process, the amino groups are cross-linked in proteins through the formation of the methylene bridges. The aim of this process is to retain the integrity of the cells. It ensures that the whole process of specimen pre paration does not distort a normal cell. As such it ensures that at the end of the test, a normal cell is clearly differentiated from abnormal one. However, the disadvantage of fixation through formalin is that, it may degrade RNA, DNA and other components of the cells. Hence it requires for the recommended protocols to be followed when carrying out such process. According to Jones and Morson (2003) an alternative way of fixing specimens is by using suitable freezing medium such as nitrogen. This method is mostly used to preserve the tissues. It is used in conjunction with staining methods such as antibody linked immunoflorescence staining. This process is important in diagnosis and prognosis because when the integrity f a specimen retained, an accurate conclusion is drawn at the end of the examination of the specimen. This then will show whether the cells are cancerous or not, which will later help in forecasting the course of the disease. After fixation, dehydration and clearing o f the cells follow. The importance of this step is to ensure that cells are dry hence easing the process of specimen sectioning. It eases the process sectioning the specimen for easy visualization through the microscope. In histopathology, this process is important because when cells are cut into the recommended thinness, the various infections and abnormalities can be identified accurately when the specimen section is viewed under microscope (Keggar, 2006, 237). This helps
